got myself all choked up working on this one. did you know that in the 16 years of my drawing this comic, Abner and Sam have been separated for 15 of them (and Abner and David for almost the entire 16)? it’s only been about two years in-universe but WOW it’s been a minute in realtime.
Additionally, this song came up on my rotation while I was coloring and it feels all too appropriate.
Ahhh the Evanescence didn’t manage to pierce my frosty heart but this did. It’s been such a long time since any of them have looked truly happy. I think I started reading the comic just as Abner and Sam got separated and it’s so so nice to see them having both made it through.
Quietly hoping for a Sam/Dootsy reunion. Probably best for that to not occur at the hospital, Abner does not need further medical issues on top of a torso full of holes.
I am lying the evanescence page DID pierce my frosty heart. This is more like the robin hood trick shot tunnelling through that.
